What is the difference between solid and hollow adjustable screw jacks?

Solid and hollow adjustable screw jacks are two mainstream structural types in the global construction hardware market,with obvious differences in material structure,mechanical performance,application scenarios and economic benefits,forming a complementary matching relationship.The solid screw jack adopts integral solid steel rod processing,with dense internal metal structure,no hollow gaps,and excellent compression resistance,bending resistance and fatigue resistance.Under long-term heavy load and repeated vibration conditions,the rod body is not easy to deform or bend,with high structural stability and long service life.It is specially used for high-load working conditions such as high-rise building formwork support,large-span beam and slab support,bridge temporary support and heavy-duty scaffolding platforms.However,solid jacks have heavy self-weight,inconvenient manual carrying and installation,and higher production cost.The hollow screw jack adopts seamless steel pipe as the rod body material,with hollow interior and light overall weight,which greatly reduces manual construction labor intensity and improves erection efficiency.Although the bearing capacity is slightly lower than solid products,it can fully meet the load requirements of indoor decoration scaffolding,low-rise exterior wall scaffolding and ordinary concrete formwork support.With simple processing technology and low cost,hollow screw jacks have high cost performance and are widely used in conventional civil construction projects.In overseas engineering procurement,purchasers need to distinguish load demands clearly:heavy industrial projects and high-standard infrastructure projects prefer solid screw jacks,while conventional residential and commercial building projects mostly adopt hollow jacks.It is forbidden to replace solid heavy-load jacks with hollow products in super-heavy support scenarios,which will cause rod body bending and frame collapse risks.Understanding the performance differences between the two types helps accurate product selection and balanced safety and economic benefits in construction projects.
